The Present Moment (II) |

The Present Moment (II) Art Ark, Crocker Art Museum Auguest 2007 - present
The Present Moment (II) uses real-time processing software to create an embodied human/computer interaction. The Present Moment (II) is created and recreated anew with each viewer's interaction by way of a real-time loop outputting a randomly ordered sequence of algorithmically generated variations. Real space and virtual space are connected by the physical presence of the viewer, who ultimately completes the work. As the viewer enters into the installation space, they encounter their own image as a continually evolving self-portrait. It is both their physical self and an extension of self (a virtual self) re-created through real-time video processing, making it both a physical and metaphysical encounter.
